Polygon Is Conducting A Web 3.0 Hackathon For Africa In Kenya

The world is focusing on promoting Crypto adoption through regulation, as demonstrated by the recent conference hosted by the Banque de France. Meanwhile, Africa is lagging in Crypto adoption. Blockchain technology utilization is also low due to a lack of capital injection into Web 3.0.

Polygon aims to make Africa a Crypto and Blockchain hub by teaching the technical expertise in people to enable them to develop decentralized applications. In this regard, the firm is launching a Web 3.0 bootcamp and hackathon in Kenya.

Xend Finance is sponsoring the program. The global crypto bank will also fund outstanding developers in the hackathon.

Offering Blockchain Technical Training

The Polygon Bootcamp will run for eight weeks. The mentorship program will train participants on how the polygon ecosystem works and how to use it as a sandbox for developing decentralized applications on the mainnet.

The more than 2,000 participants are from South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, Kenya, and Rwanda. On the other hand, the trainers and judges include:
• Yele Bademosi of Nestcoin
 Dalip Tyagi of Polygon
 Damilare Aregbesola of Polygon
 Shodipo Ayomide of Polygon
 Victor Asemota of EdoInnovates
 Prosper Otemuyiwa of Eden Life Inc
 Iyinoluwa Aboyeji of Future Africa
 Jude Dike,
 Steph Orpilla of Polygon

Developing a Blockchain for Africa

Shodipo Ayomide says that cross-country money transfer remains a challenge in Africa. The course intends to enable participants to identify market opportunities and build decentralized applications. Ayomide says that the African market can be lucrative.

According to Shodipo Ayomide, Global Head of Developer Advocacy at Polygon Technology, one of the several financial obstacles in Africa is cross-country money transfer. The utilization of Web 3.0 can therefore offer Africa immense opportunities for job creation and resource utilization.

Ugochukwu Aronu adds that Xend Finance will enable African developers to pay in Crypto for wallet infrastructure and Application Programming Interface (API) development. Forecasts show that the Crypto market will rally as the global economy recovers.

The Program Timeline

Registration commenced on September 26 and is expected to close on October 7. The bootcamp will then begin on October 10. In the first 6 weeks, there will be training to orient participants into Blockchain technology. In the remaining two weeks, there will be a hackathon phase to identify top talents. The winners will be selected based on their creativity in creating decentralized applications that meet African needs. After the end of the program on December 2, the judges will deliberate and announce the winners on December 19. The top ten participants will receive cash awards ranging from $5,000 to $500.

Polygon has sponsored conferences in Africa like the CryptoFest in South Africa and ETHSafari in Kenya. Ghana also hosted the Africa Money & DeFi Summit.
