Marfrig confirms an investment of US$ 50 million in Uruguay

Marfrig will invest US$ 50 million in the production unit in Tacuarembó, Uruguay, in 2022. The investment was announced at the beginning of the year and confirmed by company directors at a meeting with Uruguayan President Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou. Press On this Monday (12.Jul.2022), Marfrig informed that the chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, Marcos Molina, the CEO of Marfrig for South America, Miguel Gularte, were recently in Uruguay to, together with the Marfrig Uruguay CEO Marcelo Secco “reinforces its commitment to Uruguayan President Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou.” At the time, Marfrig dealt with the investment in improvements and expansion of the production unit in Tacuarembó, in north-central Uruguay. The company said it is Uruguay’s largest employer and largest beef exporter. Marfrig has more than 3,700 direct employees in the country and exported 140,000 tonnes of beef in 2020. Brazilian Marfrig is one of the leading beef companies in the world. It has 32 production units in South America and North America and says it will also make investments in other factories in 2022.
