Digitec Galaxus, a Swiss e-commerce giant accepts Bitcoin and several altcoins. The company has made revenue of nearly 1 billion Swiss Franc (992 million CHF = $994 million).
Digitec Galaxus AG Accepts 10 Cryptocurrencies
In a press release, the publicly traded company has announced that it is going to accept several cryptocurrencies for purchases that exceed 200 Swiss Francs (about $200). On two of its e-commerce platforms, digitec.ch and galaxus.ch. The cryptocurrencies are Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin SV (BSV), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), Binance Coin (BNB), Litecoin (LTC), Tron (TRX), Neo (NEO) und OmiseGo (OMG). The company did not disclose why it chose these particular cryptocurrencies. However, all of them are in the Top 20 on coinmarketcap.com, except for OmiseGo (31).
Oliver Herren, CIO and co-founder of Digitec stated that he deems that cryptocurrencies will „ likely […] become a relevant means of payment in e-commerce“ and that they want to support this development.
Coinify Facilitates the Crypto Payments
Digitec Galaxus offers this new payment method in cooperation with the Datatrans AG. Another Swiss company that specializes in online-payment technology. However, the partner of the common project is Coinify, a Danish company that already is well-known in the crypto sector. Digitec Galaxus does not take any fees for the service that it is offering. On the contrary, the Swiss company has to pay a 1,5% conversion fee to Coinify.
