Researchers warn of Chinese interest to attack Bitcoin

According to three blockchain researchers, China has a strong interest and the power to conduct attacks on Bitcoin. In their paper, they show how the functionality of Bitcoin links to China’s domestic policy. According to them, China has a strong interest in manipulating Bitcoin. As large parts of the hash power is situated in China, the country has a wide variety to process attacks on Bitcoin. However, the analysis applies to other countries as well and gives an interesting read.

Crypto start-up receives asset management license in Switzerland

The Crypto Fund AG, a Swiss virtual currency fund startup, announced on Tuesday that it had received an asset management license from Financial Market Supervisory Authority (Finma). This license gives the company green light to manage cryptocurrency investments in Switzerland as well as solicit for additional crypto-related investments from other parts of the world. In addition, Crypto Fund can now offer investment advice to corporate investors in Switzerland and abroad.

Binance will donate its listing fees to charity

The management of Binance has announced that it will be making its listing fees public and as of 8th October, all the listing fees will be going to charity. Binance currently stands as the largest crypto exchange in the world by trading volume. Before Binance made this announcement, the exchange charged listing fees for a digital coin on its platform going by different factors. A listing fee is an amount charged for having a digital token listed on Binance’s Crypto exchange.

US senators want to sanction the use of Petro

A group of senators in the United States want to apply sanctions to the use of Petro (XPD).  XPD is Venezuela’s digital currency. The Venezuelan government created and manages the cryptocurrency and has recently started to order its citizens to use it. The bill which proposes the sanctions was first introduced on the 24th of September. Among the advocates for the bill are politcal heavyweights such as Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Bill Nelson and Michael Bennet.

Twitch stream: 51% attack on Twitch

A user called @geocold51 on Twitter announced that he is going to start a 51% attack on the cryptocurrency Einsteinium. The user did not disclose much about his 51% attack. It is likely though that he simply rents the hashing power to conduct the attack. The user will be live streaming his attack on Twitch on the 13th of October. Attackers of such a chain use the relative weakness of small chains to double spend the respective crypto. After that, they usually exchange the cryptocurrency for Bitcoin or other relevant Altcoins. @geocold is asking for donations to conduct attacks on bigger exchanges.
