AMD's supposed bets for the entry-level segment, the Radeon RX 6500 XT and RX 6400 graphics cards had their existence pointed out by reports in recent days. The solutions are now re-emerging in a new rumor, courtesy of the leaker Enthusiastic Citizen , which confirms some of the aspects of the red team's upcoming core GPUs, along with possible release dates for each.

Radeon RX 6500 XT and RX 6400 arrive from January
In a publication on the social network Billibili , the leaker reinforced that the new RX 6500 XT and RX 6400 will adopt the unprecedented Navi 24 chip, while suggesting that both would have only 4 GB of dedicated memory. The amount is currently quite limited, and there are already modern games that present abysmal drops in performance in more advanced graphics configurations when the card used has 4 GB of RAM or less.
The information is not entirely negative, however, as cryptocurrency DAG files, essential for mining, need to be kept in RAM during the procedure. The Ethereum DAG file, one of the most popular currently, is already over 5 GB, for example. In short, limited memory can end up driving away cryptominers from certain currencies, thus alleviating any pressure on inventories and, consequently, on prices.

Enthusiastic Citizen also revealed alleged launch windows for each card: more powerful, the RX 6500 XT could be announced in January, possibly during CES 2022, considering that rivals Intel and Nvidia would be planning announcements for the same period . The modest RX 6400, on the other hand, would be unveiled just 2 months later, in March.
Cards bring new Navi 24 GPU and 4 GB of RAM
Part of the specs for the new Radeon GPUs had already been suggested by previous rumors, as well as data present in AMD's own drivers. Everything indicates that the RX 6500 XT can be launched with the complete Navi 24 chip, bringing 16 Computational Units (CUs), 1,024 cores and 16 Ray Accelerators for Ray Tracing.
The RX 6400 would feature a scaled-down version of the GPU, featuring 12 CUs with 768 cores and 12 Ray Accelerators. Because it is less demanding, its consumption would remain below 75 W and, in this way, it could be fed directly from the PCI-E slot, without needing an external power connector — another point reinforced by Enthusiastic Citizen in today's rumor.
